MULTI STAGE FILTRATION UNIT
Within the aluminium casthouse industry there is a need for an efficient, low hold up volume, filtration process capable of treating high flow metal rates.
Optifilter is a three chamber system with a ceramic foam filter as the first stage, TiBAl grain refiner added in the second stage and filtration completed in the third stage by using an efficient cyclone.
The Optifilter system incorporating a cyclone, has been proven in terms of effectiveness by numerical and water modelling experiments and a prototype unit is now undergoing trials in a large casthouse.
If eventually proven to match modeling predictions, it will provide a high efficiency filtration solution for frequent alloy changes or low volume operations.
